About the Artwork:
Execution Day features an elongated figure decapitated by an executioner. The figure attacks the village’s king with his laser eyes while a small child in the background watches on. When creating new compositions I often think of Max Beckmann’s paintings. Specifically, I appreciate how his narratives often seem irrelevant to the greater scheme of the piece. Anything could be happening and it would be interesting. There appears a larger emphasis on color, texture, and composition, with a secondary importance to what story actually takes place. The original painting stands at 4 feet tall by 5 feet wide and remains in the artist’s personal collection.
